Who were David Carson's Parents?

David Carson is the earliest family member in this Carson line that we are able to identify. There is no agreement on who are his parents or from where he came. He was in Washington County, Virginia as early as 1772. (At that time he was already married to Elizabeth Dysart.)

The families of Washington County deputy Surveyor David Carson and the Long Hunter James Dysart were closely connected.

The maiden name of David Carson's wife was Dysart.

David Carson's son William Carson married James Dysart's daughter, Eleanor Dysart.

David Carson's son, Charles Campbell Carson married James Dysart's daughter, Elizabeth Dysart.

After the death of David Carson, James Dysart and some of the sons of David Carson relocated to Rockcastle County, Kentucky.

David Carson and his wife Elizabeth Dysart may have come to America with James Dysart.

James Dysart was born in 1744 in Donegal County, Ireland. In 1761, he came to America (Western Pennsylvania) with his grandfather, Samuel Dysart.

James Dysart then joined the "Long Hunters" in their exploration of Tennessee and Kentucky. He settled in Washington County, Virginia and in 1775 he married Nancy Agnes Beattie, the daughter of John Beattie and Ellinor Gilmore.
