Joseph Carson and Mary Evans

 

David Carson was born about 1741 (not documented) and died about 1803. He lived and worked as a surveyor in and around Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia. He was active in religious affairs, community affairs, and the military. 

About 1765, he married Elizabeth Dysart (sister of Col. James Dysart?) who was born about 1745. Their fifth child (third son) was Joseph.

Joseph Carson, born July 2, 1777 in Abingdon Washington Co., Virginia and died March 2, 1815 in Mt Vernon, Rockcastle Co., Kentucky 

On March 30, 1797 in Abington, Washington Co., Virginia, Joseph Carson married Mary A. Evans, daughter of John I Evans and Ruth Rowe.

Joseph Carson and Mary Evans had ten children:

1. (Preacher) David Carson was born February 04, 1798 in Washington County, Virginia and died December 15, 1876 in Crab Orchard, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. On June 16, 1819 in Washington County, Virginia, he married Catherine Lawrence, the daughter of William Lawrence and Sarah Booth and brother of Tartulus Lawrence. Catherine was born on June 16, 1801 in Washington Co., Virginia and died May 11, 1882 in either Rockcastle County or Lincoln County, Kentucky

2. Ruth Carson was born September 05, 1799 in either Virginia or Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died February 14, 1884 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky (Lawrence/Proctor Cemetery, Quail, Rockcastle Co., Kentucky). About 1822, she married Tartulus Lawrence, son of William Lawrence and Sarah Booth, and sister of Catherine Lawrence. Tartulus was born on December 31, 1797 in either Washington County or Montgomery County, Virginia and died June 07, 1876 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky (Lawrence/Proctor Cemetery, Quail, Rockcastle Co., Kentucky).

3. Mary Carson was born November 12, 1800 in either Virginia or Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died January 1867 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky (Lawrence/Proctor Cemetery, Quail, Rockcastle Co., Kentucky).

4. Elizabeth C. Carson was born January 31, 1802 Virginia or Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died sometime after 1885 probably in Savannah, Missouri. She married David Butcher who was born about 1803 in Virginia and died sometime after 1885 probably in Savannah, Missouri.

5. Polly Carson was born April 12, 1804 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died July 19, 1892 in Mt Vernon, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. She married Joseph B. Proctor who was born about 1800 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died sometime before 1885.

6. (Judge) John Evans Carson was born March 28, 1806 in Crab Orchard, Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died April 23, 1876 in Crab Orchard, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He first married on May 23, 1839 in Kentucky Marcinda W. Fish, the daughter of James Shelby Fish and Sarah Lake Roberts. Marcinda was born on August 14, 1813 in Lincoln Co., Kentucky and died August 12, 1853 in Mt. Vernon, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He second married on June 13, 1857 in Lincoln County, Kentucky Almina Fish, the daughter of John Fish and Mary Hiatt. Almina was born November 14, 1816 in Lincoln County, Kentucky and died May 12, 1868 Crab Orchard, Rockcastle County, Kentucky.

7. Cynthia Carson was born September 14, 1808 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died sometime after 1885 probably Atchison, Kansas. She married a Mr. Moore, who was born about 1805 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died prior to 1880.

8. Emily Carson was born January 13, 1811 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died sometime after 1885 in Stewartsville, Clinton Co., Missouri. About 1837 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky she married James Everett, the son of Henry Everett. James was born about 1815 in North Carolina.

9. Joseph Carson, Jr. was born on December 12, 1812 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died in 1893 in Savannah, Missouri. He married Margaret Montgomery who was born about 1815 in Kentucky and died prior to 1860. In Missouri, he second married Sophia Mitchell Moran who was born Oct 27, 1822 in Madison County, Kentucky. Sophia Moran was the daughter of Elizabeth (Holeman) Moran and the granddaughter of Joseph Holeman and Elizabeth Wilson. (See Holemans in Madison Co., Ky)

10. Margaret Carson was born September 02, 1815 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and died on July 19, 1865. About 1846 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky she married Vincent Pointer. Vincent was born September 26, 1826 in Kentucky and died September 01, 1902 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.
