The Holemans have some connections to the Cubberleys.

According to “History of Burlington and Mercer Counties, New Jersey, with Biographical Sketches of Many of Their Pioneers and Prominent Men” by Major E. M. Woodward & John F. Hageman, James (died 1754) and Mary (died 1772) Cubberley arrived in the Mercer County area in the early 1700s. They had six children: Thomas, William, James, John, Isaac, and Mary.

* The listing of constables in Hamilton, Mercer County shows: John Holeman, 1847-51 and Asher S. Cubberley, 1855.
[Note: John Holeman (1812 - 1851), his wife Anna Eliza McCabe, and children were in the 1850 census for Hamilton, Mercer, New Jersey. John Holeman is the son of Henry Holeman and Nancy Hawkins, and the grandson of William Holeman and Uphamea Reynolds.]

* In the 1830 Census there are three Holemans in Middlesex County: Kenneth (South Amboy, Middlesex, New Jersey), Journey (North Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey), and Cubberly (North Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey). The Aug 15, 1815 Will Robert Holman shows a Holman-Cubberley connection. (This Robert Holman is thought to be the son of Frances Holman and Catherine Dye, and the grandson of Joseph Holman and Thamson.) The abstract of the Aug 15, 1815 Will: 1) identifies his father-in-law as Jacob Johnson (Johnston); 2) identifies his three daughters: Maria, Lydia Ann, and Eleanor; and 3) gives wearing apparel to my brothers - James and Journey Holman. This raises the following possibilities:
** James and Journey are sons of Frances Holman and Catherine Dye. (They are not mentioned in the Feb 18, 1758 Will of Frances Holman?)
** James and Journey are sons of the widow Catherine (Dye) Holman and her second husband, William Badcock. (Robert Holman is half-brother of James and Journey? Why is the surname Holman, not Badcock, for James and Journey?)
** James and Journey are related to Robert's wife, the daughter of Jacob Johnson. (Brothers-in-law?)
** The Robert Holman with the Aug 15, 1815 Will is not the son of Frances Holman and Catherine Dye. (There is a Robert Holman who married Sarah, the widow of Robert Skidmore, and handled the Robert Skidmore estate in 1807)
[See family of Robert Holman, died 1709.] I believe that Cubberly Holeman is the son or nephew of Journey Holeman. I believe the James Holeman in the 1830 and 1840 Upper Freehold, Monmouth, New Jersey census is the brother of Journey Holeman.

* In 1840 Kenneth Holeman and his son, William C Holeman, are in the East Windsor, Mercer, New Jersey census. Journey Holeman and Cubberley Holeman are in the 1840 census for North Brunswick, Middlesex Co., New Jersey.

* The 1850 census for North Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey includes Currely Holeman (in the mortality schedule), Jane Holeman (the widow of Cubberly Holeman), James Holeman, born 1818 in New Jersey, and Robert Holeman, born about 1810 in New York.

* Joseph Holman Ely (born 12 Jun 1806 in Millstone Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey) is the son of Aaron Ely and Phebe Holeman (1790 - 1835). Phebe Holeman is the daughter of Joseph Holeman and Nancy "Ann" Perrine, and the great, great grand-daughter of Robert Holeman, died 1709. Joseph Holman Ely in 1806 married Julia Ann Cubberley, daughter of Elijah Cubberley (1789 - 1872) and Elizabeth Voorhees (1791 - 1853). Elijah and Elizabeth were in the 1850 census for East Windsor, Mercer, New Jersey.

[Note: An article regarding Ellsworth Holeman, son of Daniel Holeman and Rachael Reeve, said that his paternal grandfather was an inhabitant of Ocean County, but spent the greater portion of his life in Juliustown, Burlington County. Is Elias Holeman, the father of Daniel Holeman (born 1792 in Juliustown, Burlington Co., New Jersey) related to the other Holmans in Ocean County? (Biographical review: containing life sketches of leading citizens of Camden and Burlington Counties, New Jersey, page 198)]

[Note: Daniel Holeman and Rachel Reeve were the parents of Ellsworth Holeman. The third wife of Ellsworth Holeman was Sarah Holeman, the daughter of John Holeman (1780–1829) and Nancy Huffman (1781–1875). John Holeman may be the brother of Daniel Holeman.
