Question: Did Tandy and Elizabeth (Abney) Holeman have a son William?
Capt Tandy Holeman and his first wife, Eleanor Ann Bradley, did have a son
William Holeman (born 1785).
---
Question: did William Holeman, son of Captain Tandy Holeman marry Nancy Ann Witt on
Sept 21, 1814 in Estill County, Kentucky?
Researchers of the “Tandy” line of Holemans report that William Holeman (born 1785), son of Captain Tandy Holeman, married
Jane "Jean" Ayres on Sept 23, 1807. [Three of the children of Capt Tandy Holeman married
children of Nathan Ayres (born 1752 in Albemarle County, Virginia) and Mary Christian Leake.]
These researchers do not mention a second marriage by William Holeman.
---
Question: Did Captain Tandy Holeman have two sons named William?
* One, who married “Jane” and died before Aug 14, 1823, the date his will was probated.
* One, who was alive on July 24, 1836, the day Tandy Holeman died.
It appears that the William Holeman (born 1785) who married Jane Ayres lived and died in Buckingham, Virginia.
After his first wife died, Capt Tandy Holeman married Elizabeth Abney on Sept 30, 1786 in Amherst County, Virginia. Did they have a
son named after her father, William Abney?

"T. W. Holman, a prominent farmer of Sand Hill Township, was born July 26, 1845, in Estill County, Ky., and in 1852 moved with his parents to Columbus, Ind., and in October, 1857, moved to the farm where he has since
resided. He lived on a farm until fifteen years of age, when he enlisted in Company D, Twenty-first Missouri Infantry, and served until February 11, 1865, when he mustered out at Eastport, Miss. He was highly respected by his
superior officers, always taking great delight in the discharge of his duties, and at the time he was mustered out was offered the second lieutenantship to remain with the army, and received quite honorable mention on the back of
his discharge. He stood beside the first man shot at the battle of Shiloh, and although never captured himself, had many narrow escapes, and in many ways distinguished himself by his courage and efficiency as a soldier. The farm
on which he lives is a well improved one about 100 acres, and he is one of the most prominent citizens of the place, having a well-stored mind always posted with current events. March 4, 1866, he married Miss
Nannie E. Cole, a daughter of Charles and America (Johnson) Cole, natives of Kentucky. Seven children have been blessed this marriage viz.: Charles S., Albert F., Arthur S., Anna L., Helen K., Frank G. and May. Mr. and Mrs. Holman are
members of the Presbyterian Church, and in politics the former is a Democrat. In 1882 he was appointed judge of his district by Gov. Crittenden, to serve out an unexpired term of one year, and was then elected presiding judge
of the county court, which office he held for four years. He was then appointed assessor of his county, in 1876, by Gov. C. H. Hardin, and served about one year and a half. He was elected registrar of his township in 1872. He is
a Master Mason, as well as a Royal Arch Mason, and is a charter member of the Memphis Commandery, No. 41, of the Knights Templar, and is also a charter member of the G. A. R. Post at Memphis. He is the eldest of the four
children of George W. and Eliza J. (Harris) Holman, natives of Kentucky, possibly Estill County. George W. served as sheriff of his county while residing in Kentucky. He was an old line Whig, and an active member
of the Presbyterian Church. The Holmans originally came from Virginia to Kentucky."

"J. C. Montgomery, a prominent farmer and stock raiser in Jefferson Township, was born in 1842, within three miles of where he has since resided. He was reared on the farm, and began life for himself in moderate circumstances
at the age of twenty-five, and what he is now worth is the result of his industry and good management. He owns a nicely improved farm of 240 acres where he resides, and also owns land in other parts of the township. In 1868 he
married Miss Almira Holman, a daughter of George W. Holman, a native of Kentucky. Six children have blessed this union, viz.: George H., Luther T., Lydia A., Clarence, Gertrude and Nettie. Mrs. Montgomery died in April,
1885, and Mr. Montgomery has since married Miss Melissa Huggins, daughter of John B. Huggins, a native of Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. The former is a
Democrat, and is the fourth of six children of Harvey and Nancy (Smith) Montgomery, natives of Rhea County, Tenn., who moved to Scotland County, Mo., in 1842, where Harvey Montgomery lived and died. He was a
successful farmer and influential citizen, a very active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and was highly respected by his friends and neighbors. His wife having died Mr. Montgomery was married a second time to
Mrs. Scottie Smith, to which union five children were born. Mr. Montgomery was a son of John Montgomery, a native of Ireland. Mrs. Nancy Montgomery was a daughter of John Smith."

Frank Hess 'Holeman' Family Research
Born: December 4, 1899, Seymour, Jackson County, Indiana
Died: August 24, 1974, Brawley, Imperial County, California
Father: George Holeman
Mother: Alice Bell Collier [born July, 1861]
I believe that the George Holeman who married Alice Bell Collier is the son of the
Elisha Holeman, who married Mary “Polly” Ellington, and the grandson of the
William Holeman who married Nancy Ann Witt on Sept 21, 1814 in Estill County, Kentucky.
The place of birth for this George Holeman is interesting. Most of the Holemans in Jackson County, Indiana were
descendants of Isaac Hardy Holeman (1757-1843), son of Isaac Holeman, died 1808.
* Isaac Holeman (1787-1875) married Nancy Cleghorn (1807), Phoebe Ann Mitchell, and Delphia Jane Adams (1831).
* Aaron Holeman (1792-1871) married Aletha Hilton in 1813.
* Moses Holeman (c1796-1875) married Rebecca Patrick (1814) and Mary Ann Veatch (1839)
* William Holeman (1789-c1845) married and had son Aaron Holeman (1815-1903)

Question: Is the William Holeman who married Nancy Ann Witt related to Isaac Hardy Holeman (1757-1843)?
--------------
***
There were two William Holmans in the 1840 census for
Livingston County, Kentucky. One (Male - 40 thru 49) is thought to be the William Holman who married daughters of
Hannah Wilson and Alexander Hosich. Hannah (Wilson) Hosich was the daughter of
Catherine (Livingston) Wilson, the second wife of Joseph Holman of Madison County, Kentucky. Who was the other one (Male - 20 thru
29)? The William Holeman who married Nancy Ann Witt in 1814 in Estill County, Kentucky is too old to be this William Holman (Male - 20 thru 29).
