Note:
Jeremiah Coats and Mary Mcintosh had a son William Coats, born about 1834 in Kentucky, who married first Elizabeth E. Hicks about 1855, in Douglas County, Missouri. Elizabeth E. Hicks was the daughter of Rev. Robert D Hicks, Jr. (1804-1863) and his first wife, Elizabeth Polley (1804-1841). Rev. Hicks' second wife, Catherine Sweeten (1814–1896) was the daughter of Absolom Sweeten (1765-1860). The Hicks family relocated from Perry County, Kentucky to Indiana, and then to Missouri.

Birth 1830
Tennessee, USA
Death 1878 (aged 47–48)
Ozark County, Missouri, USA
Burial
Roper-Stutlers Cemetery
Douglas County, Missouri, USA
Memorial ID 100505936

William B. "Bill" Holeman/Holman was born in Tennessee, 1830, to Polly Exum (b. abt 1800, NC) and Daniel Holeman (b. 1788, NC). William's parents were married 26 Apr 1817 in Sumner Co. TN. After the parents' marriage, they traveled to NC, then on to Missouri, residing in Douglas County.
...William married Mary Ann Ellis in Indiana. William and Mary primarily stayed in Ozark, MO where they settled along Bryant Creek, building one of the first mills and cotton gins, known as Hodgson. This mill was destroyed about 1876 due to a flood on Bryant Creek. Several researchers have posted this information on many sites and I will not repeat it here.
...Civil War Military Records show he served on the Union side of the civil war, Infantry 42nd & 43rd.
...Mary and William together had eleven children; all children were born in Missouri except Mary Louise, in IL.: William J., Asa, George Washington, John Thomas, Lucinda, Burton A., Mary Louise Aulds, Nancy Jane Aulds, Margaret Emily Oliver, William Henry, and Susan Sarah Mauldin.
...William is estimated to be buried in Roper Cemetery in MO, Douglas County. This cemetery is on the banks of Bryant Creek. Over the years an undetermined number of graves have been washed away when the creek flooded. There are several unnamed gravestones.

Widow Mary filed for a military widow's pension, and sold the property in 1879.

Aid-Hodgson Water Mill In Ozark County Grinds Meal and Flour Daily
by Ruby M. Robins

Aid-Hodgson Mill, operating daily to produce thousands of pounds of meal and flour through the year, has come to be a symbol of the pioneer water mill in Missouri. One of the most productive of Missouri's still operating water mills, Aid-Hodgson is a classic example of the few surviving pioneer mills in the state. The handsome, three-story, red mill, with its millpond and waterfall, fed by one of the state's larger springs, is often used by the state in tourist literature and this year it decorates the back cover of the 1968 Missouri highway maps. The waterfall is also used on the back cover of the current issue of the Missouri Conservationist.
Situated in the valley of Bryant Creek, famed fishing float stream, the mill was built by master millwright Alva Hodgson in 1897 near where a pioneer mill was in operation as early as 1861. The Civil War soon forced the close of this enterprise, but it was revived at the war's close by William Holman whose mill was replaced by the present structure.
Through the years, the mill was operated by several owners until 1934, when the late Charles T. Aid of West Plains purchased the property. Now owned by the Aid estate, it has had the double name since the time of purchase in 1934.
