[Note #14: Family tradition states that Elizabeth was "a Donelson", closely related to Rachel Donelson who m. Andrew Jackson. No
Holman-Donelson marriage has been found although some Donelson "in-law" surnames
(Simpson and Stokely) are used by descendants of Isaac W and
Elizabeth.]
--------
John Holman of Estill County, Kentucky named his oldest son "Simpson". Simpson married Margaret Campbell in 1838 and had three children (born between 1838-1848). Margaret and the three children are in the 1850
census for Estill County, Kentucky. The 1850 census for Lake, Buchanan County, Missouri
lists John Holman and his entire family, including Simpson.
Two sons of Reuben Holeman (c1759-c1829) and Mary "Polly" Cook (born 1762 in North Carolina) and grandsons of Isaac Holeman, died 1808, are connected with the names “Simpson” and
“Waller” - Reuben Holeman (born 1786) and Isaac W Holman (1783-1844).
***
Reuben Holeman, Jr. (born 1786) married Mary Riley:
* daughter, Susan Holeman married Stephen Estes in 1831 in Clay County, Missouri. Stephen Estes died in 1833 leaving a widow and child. Before 1836, the widow Susan (Holeman) Estes married her first cousin,
William Simpson Holeman.
* son, George Waller Holeman (1820-1863).
----
Isaac W Holman (1783-1844) married Elizabeth Donelson (born 1787) daughter of John Donelson and Catherine Davis and had a son, William Simpson Holeman (born 1815 in Tennessee). This is the man who married
the widow Susan (Holeman) Estes. I do not know how long this marriage lasted, but some Holeman researchers believe that William Simpson Holeman also married Susan Gurry, and named a son William
Simpson Holeman (1842-1924), a son George Waller Holeman (1840-1903), and a son Stokley "Stokes" A Holeman.
William Simpson Holeman, (born 1815) in the census:
